Yeadon Town Hall Restoration

We're delighted to showcase the results of our restoration and renovation project! Yeadon Town Hall's restoration took over two years to complete, and we couldn't be prouder of the results. If you haven't yet visited to see our transformation, please do come along to one of our events!

Here's just some of the work that's gone into transforming Yeadon Town Hall...

External repairs, new clock faces and stone restoration

Leeds City Council funded over £750,000 of works, including major repairs to the roof, exterior walls, stained glass, and restoration of the clock faces and clock tower.

Bar & Upper Foyer

We've completely redesigned the bar layout to provide more space and better flow for busier shows. The exciting development included removing the 1950s ceiling in the bar area to reveal the original double-height Victorian ceilings and stained glass windows which have been hidden for over 50 years. Come along to our Town Hall Tavern when we're able to reopen and see the incredible transformation!

Reception Desk & Box Office

We've created a new accessible Reception Desk / Box Office which will be open during the day and pre-show for general enquiries, ticket sales, and ticket collection.

Main Auditorium

Our stunning main auditorium has been given some much-needed TLC. Not only have we improved the decoration scheme to complement the historical architecture, we've brought style and substance too. From renewing the ailing curtains to replacing the stage floor and the stage rigging equipment, we've made sure the space is a joy for both patrons and performers.

Decorations

Regular patrons of Yeadon Town Hall will notice that many of the front-of-house areas at YTH have now been painted and refreshed.

Dressing Rooms & Choir Risers

We have created a new star dressing room for visiting artists, whilst other dressing rooms have been transformed along the way too.

And there's more...

Regular users of Yeadon Town Hall will be pleased to know that all the Town Hall toilets will be refurbished by 2024. We are also planning to fully refurbish the kitchen facilities.

FRONT STONE STEPS

In 2024, we contacted Leeds City Council with high hopes - to breathe new life into the historic stone steps of Yeadon Town Hall Theatre.  These steps, weathered by time and the elements, are in need of careful restoration to ensure their beauty, safety, and longevity.

The sandstone slabs have shifted, the railings have aged, and drainage complications have taken their toll. And the best news?  We secured funding!

We extend our thanks to the Outer North West Community Committee.  This project aligns with the Community Committee Objective - Best City for Communities: to Develop and make better use of community assets - ensuring Yeadon Town Hall Theatre continues to shine for generations to come.

We are excited to embark on an ambitious journey to restore and reset the very steps that have welcomed generations of performers, guests, and theatre lovers.

🔹 Refurbishment: We will carefully lift, strengthen, and reset the stone slabs, using authentic materials wherever possible. The railings will also be restored to ensure a solid, long-lasting foundation.

🔹 Enhancing the Theatre’s Grandeur:  An iconic building at the heart of Yeadon, Yeadon Town Hall Theatre stands proudly at the centre of our community.  Welcoming over 50,000 visitors per year, it deserves an entrance that reflects its charm and historical significance.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

This isn’t just about restoring stone, it’s about building connections and celebrating heritage!

🎭 Social Media Campaign – You can follow our progress through Instagram, Facebook, and email updates!  We’ll be tagging Leeds City Council and the Outer North West Community Committee to share our gratitude and keep our supporters in the loop.

🛠 Training the Next Generation – We’re hoping to work with local students in this hands-on restoration experience, giving future stonemasons the chance to learn from a real heritage project.

🏛 Exhibition - We will host an exhibition, allowing visitors to see the craftsmanship up close, and learn about the rich history behind these steps.  We thank our friends at the Aireborough Historical Society for helping us in planning this event.

This is more than a restoration - it’s a celebration of history, community, and the magic of theatre!

Stay tuned as we bring the Stone Steps back to their former glory.

Follow our journey and be part of something truly special!
