Honouring The Past. Preparing For The Future.

Project 2030 is Yeadon Town Hall Theatre's ambitious plan to secure the future of one of Yorkshire's most important community venues for the next fifty years and beyond.

Since taking over the building in 2019, Yeadon Town Hall CIC has worked tirelessly to restore, maintain and develop the Town Hall. However, many parts of the building are now reaching the end of their useful life. Recent investigations have also identified significant asbestos issues and ageing infrastructure that must be addressed if the building is to remain open and thrive for future generations.

Project 2030 represents a once in a generation opportunity to modernise the building whilst respecting its heritage and character.

What Will Project 2030 Deliver?

Our vision includes:

• A brand new heating, ventilation and cooling system throughout the building

• New retractable auditorium seating, providing a more comfortable and flexible theatre experience

• Improved accessibility, including a new public passenger lift

• A new goods lift providing direct access to the stage

• A remodelled internal staircase and improved circulation throughout the building

• Increased and modernised toilet facilities

• Improvements to backstage areas, dressing rooms and performer facilities

• A deeper, more versatile stage suitable for larger productions

• Roof repairs and improved insulation

• Energy efficiency measures to reduce operating costs and environmental impact

Together, these improvements will transform Yeadon Town Hall into a modern, accessible and sustainable venue while preserving the historic building at the heart of our community.

When Will The Work Take Place?

Our current aim is to undertake the main construction works during 2029, with the venue temporarily closing for a period while the project is delivered.

Subject to funding and approvals, we hope to reopen either later in 2029 or during 2030 with a revitalised venue ready to serve the community for decades to come.

Where Are We Now?

Project 2030 is currently in the planning and development phase.

A dedicated steering group has been established to guide the project, working alongside professional advisers, architects and stakeholders to develop the vision, refine costs and identify funding opportunities.

Over the coming months we will be:

• Developing detailed designs and visualisations

• Engaging with users, audiences and community groups

• Building our fundraising programme

• Exploring grant funding opportunities

• Working with Leeds City Council and heritage partners

This is a long term project, but the foundations are now being put in place.
